About

There is a rich array of perspectives on leadership, but throughout the world there is one clear understanding of what leadership is.  There is a definite distinction between leadership and management, to the benefit of both.  Every person realizes that each has their time to lead, and when their time comes, they are ready.  In leading and in following, as appropriate, all find fulfillment and growth.  The primary purpose of leadership is for us to BE more, and from that we can then DO more to work together towards our visions and dreams.

This is not the world we live in today.  But it is my vision and hope of how the world could be, with clarification of what leadership is.  The greatest impediment to the realization of great leadership is the vast confusion and ambiguity around the term.  I know myself I don’t have a perfect understanding of what leadership is all about.  It’s my hope with this blog to share the insights I have gathered over time, and to learn from the insights you have.  And together maybe we can shove the world, at least a little bit, towards a clearer understanding of leadership.

For the past 25 years I have worked in the health and safety area for a Fortune 500 company.  I have also been active in a variety of volunteer activities, from serving on the board of a YMCA family camp to singing in the church band.  Leadership development is a side venture for me.  While it has a great deal of my passion, the time is limited.  This blog will not be updated on a set schedule, but I will do all I can to keep it fresh.
